The global headquarters of the “One Buddha One World” international Buddhist organization was officially inaugurated on the 3rd in Sri Lanka. Assembly Chairman Ven. Shih Da Hui, Abbot of Taiwan’s Guang Xiu Zen Monastery, and Secretary-General Ven. Anurudda Thero of Sri Lanka jointly unveiled the facility. Under brilliant sunshine, spectacular traditional Kandyan dance performances, and witnessed by hundreds of children with pure, clear eyes, One Buddha One World joyfully moved into its new home.

After approximately one hour’s journey from the capital Colombo, four tour buses came to a dusty halt beside the road in Udugampola. Musicians and dancers in vibrant costumes led the procession, guiding over a hundred monks and lay practitioners from various countries along a sandy path into the One Buddha One World international headquarters, occupying five acres equivalent to 14,760 ping. Lining both sides of the path were local children and residents who had been waiting, dressed in their finest attire, their passionate gazes and smiles radiating overwhelming welcome and unbridled enthusiasm.

After three years of preparation and countless efforts, the two spiritual leaders of One Buddha One World—Ven. Anurudda Thero and Ven. Shih Da Hui—finally established their international headquarters at this location. Monks from various countries arriving at this headquarters nestled in nature all experienced a sense of homecoming. Without rehearsal, everyone chanted sutras in unison—their common language. Despite the high temperatures soaking their robes with perspiration, their hearts were filled with boundless joy.

Surrounded by hundreds of beautiful children with thick eyebrows, large eyes, and long eyelashes, dressed in the most beautiful white shirts and white skirts or pants, Ven. Shih Da Hui stated that the headquarters office is extremely precious and was established with the utmost solemnity. “One Buddha One World is an international organization with headquarters in Sri Lanka, and Sri Lanka is a member state of the United Nations. To propagate Buddhism, we must establish an office here to facilitate the global dissemination of the Dharma in the future.” Every venerable elder and representative from each country harbors expectations, hoping for the flourishing of the Dharma and the eternal presence of the true teachings in the world.

Ven. Shih Da Hui stated that after the office’s establishment, it will focus on three objectives: first, to integrate Chinese, Theravada, and Tibetan Buddhism, including precepts, scriptures, and scriptural propagation; second, to rapidly cultivate Dharma propagation talents, utilizing modern technology such as AI to help more Dharma teachers become more logical, conceptual, and grounded, enabling sentient beings to joyfully learn and accept the Dharma; third, to achieve harmony and equality in benefits, truly implementing altruism as the primary focus, using the perfection of giving (dana paramita) as guidance, hoping that Buddhist countries can all experience increased merit and strong economies.

Ven. Shih Da Hui particularly expressed gratitude to the All Ceylon Buddhist Congress, the strong support of Ven. Anurudda Thero, the monastic community led by Ven. Miao Tsan from the United States, and all the lay practitioners who traveled from over 30 countries to Sri Lanka to participate in the founding assembly. He believes everyone shares a common aspiration, and through everyone’s efforts, “as merit grows greater and intentions become purer, the Pure Land on earth will truly be realized.”

As twilight descended and the time for departure arrived, everyone had to fly back to their respective origins. After several days together, strangers had become good friends. Waving hands in the night, only farewell remained unspoken. Though parting brought reluctance, with One Buddha One World’s relentless Dharma propagation efforts, Buddhist friends will surely reunite again. Longing and blessings marked a perfect conclusion to the 2025 One Buddha One World activities.
